In simple terms, business models are the business organization’s plan for making a profit. It identifies the products or services the business organization is planning to sell, the most profitable target market, and the expected expenses for the business when selling the product or the service. Business models are highly important for newly opened businesses as well as established businesses in the market.

Value Proposition

The value proposition is considered a primary element of the business model. It is a promise of value by the organization that summarizes how the value or the benefit of the product or service will be delivered, communicated, experienced, and acknowledged.  In simple terms, the value proposition highlights what makes the product or service offered by the company attractive, why the customers should purchase the product or service, and how the value of the product differs from the competitor’s products.  It is a way of differentiating the product or the service from the competitors.

The importance of business models can be highlighted because they help the newly opened businesses to attract new investments, motivate management and the employees of the business, and recruit talented employees.

The business models for newly opened businesses should concentrate on the projected startup cost and sources of financing, marketing strategy, competition, expected income and expenses, and the target market. According to many analysts, gross profit is considered more important when evaluating an organization’s business plan. It is identified as a way of measuring the success of the business plan. If the expenses of the business are higher than normal, the management team has the responsibility of correcting the reasons for over expenses.  Further to that, many analysts have expressed that the companies that have the best business models can run themselves successfully.
